The Basics of the bagpipe are, compared to other instruments, complicated. There have been many ways to try and make their teaching easier but after 30 years of teaching I still consider the "old" way the best i.e. learn all the basics and their exercises then once you have mastered them go onto tunes. By that time you will be able to play all the movements required for the tunes (instead of having to learn new movements every 2nd bar!!)as well as being a competent sight reader of the musical notation. This whole process will take between 6 - 8 weeks. If you want to play a tune NOW then take up the guitar!

So for the next few weeks we will work together so that you will master the music and techniques that will enable you to perform on one of the oldest musical instruments in the world. AND YES I said TOGETHER and what's more I mean it!
I love the bagpipe - I have been playing for 42 years and teaching for 32 years and I am pleased to BOAST that all my pupils who stayed the course could play the bagpipe in public and uphold my reputation. SO WILL YOU!! That is why I have included UNLIMITED e-mail support and if you run into bigger problems then we will arrange a conference call or a chat on MSN Messenger.

I am a professional piper so my reputation is important - follow these lessons and I guarantee that you will make me proud to call you my pupil.

Each of these lessons should take about a week to master.
